13 Jim Tobin 1
Jim Tobin was a HERO to both 2/22 and 3/22. The stories are many about all the times he showed up in the middle of a firefight. Once he learned of any action, he'd get to where the ammo chopper were and ride out. If they were kicking ammo of the chopper, Jim Tobin would jump out. He'd be encouraging the Men, helping with the wounded and giving comfort to the dying. When things settled down, he'd pull a beer out of his fatigue pocket and hand it to whoever seemed the most stressed. Like I said, he was a HERO who was loved by the Men. He was the first to be named Honorary Member of the 22nd Regiment, HMOR. I can't say enough about him. His daughter is Sarah. She is a retired Air Force LTC. She still flies a stunt plane. Jim May
